Kofi Annan admits failure

February 22, 2005

The Opinion Journal http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110006324 has an editorial by the UN Secratery General which is filled with prose and meaningless words that are a misguided attempt to remake the utter failures of the UN look like a misunderstanding on our part (and by Our I mean America).

Go ahead and read the article. Tell me it doesn’t sound like a trial lawyer arguing that “not all trial lawers are bad” and then they site the one or two cases of actual corporate malfeance to justify tens of thousands of frivolous lawsuits.

To sum up the article…
The UN is Vital for following the US after the US made the hard decision, and the US put it’s people and treasure on the line and the US forks out the cash.

Thats it in a nutshell. Except for the case that we need to urgently do something about something and everybody needs to shut up about the corruption because in 8 months the UN will meet to talk about reform.

I do not (yet) endorse withdrawing the US from the UN but the UN should be forced to relocate it’s headquarters to a nation that it’s ignorance or criminal negligence is best shown. How about the Congo. I wander if these idiots will still stand by ideal after watching a blue beret wearing ass raping a 10 year old.

He does get one point right in the article. He recognises that only America has the power to create great change. He also recognises that unlike most of the 191 member states, in the US the people can demand change and our representatives will listen or be replaced. That is why he is taking his case to the people. This case is weak, and as more people turn away from the networks for their news they will see more and more why the UN must be changed or eliminated.

It’s all about bullies

February 17, 2005

I believe that the difference between Conservatives and Liberals can be summed up nicely by saying that no liberal idea has ever existed that can stop a bully.

There are two types of bullies in the world. The first is the simple minded brute (hereafter called Brute). He will find and pick on the smallest target he can find. He recieves a sense of power and joy by having control over a small opponent. The second (which I will call Needy) is the more dangerous kind. His satisfaction comes from subtly attacking targets who will not fight back. This guy is after peer approval. He wants the other needies to like him and by attacking someone his peers do not like, he wins their affection or respect.

The classic schoolyard bully is a Brute. The guy who hangs with a pack and insults individual tagets is a Needy.

Everyone (except the bullies) dissapproves of them. But the question is how do you stop them.

For the liberal the answers are complex. We must understand him. We must look at the root cause of his actions. We must find out what turned him into a bully (upbringing or peer pressure) and work to stop that source from creating new bullies.

The conservative approach is simple, direct and utterly effective. An outside source must step in between the bully and the target and use force or the threat of force to make the bully stop. If the outside source appears strong, this will stop the Brute. The Needy guy will either stop, or actively (and often illogically) fight back against a stronger apponent.

Why would Needy fight back? For that we need to look at the outside force. The outsider is not directly threatened (usually) so the actions of the bully have to exceed whatever else is capturing his current attention. The outsider will usually have a host of issues he could respond to, but does not want to play the role of public defender.

Every now and then, the outsiders of the world just tire of helping out and they shut out the obvious injustices in the world. The target now has to hope someone else will see his plight and interceed.

Even rarer, a Brute will directly attack someone the outsider deeply cares for. This usually results in the instant reaction of the outsider who responds with devistating force. After the initial threat is taken care of, the outsider might even decide that the best way to protect his own loved ones and friends is to actively seek and stop all bullies. Everywhere.

Sorry, just had to rant. Side note to liberal commentators. This is why arm chair conservatives and red blooded Americans are backing the Bush administration in the war on terror. This time the bullies went too far. We wiped them out and now we will go after all the others regardless of what threat they currently pose.

Theres a new rule in town. Before, we talked softly and carried a big stick. Now we talk straight, and carry a howitzer.

What do we want?

February 17, 2005

I’m new to this blog thing. I just want to jot down my blend of news and conservative commentary. Why is it that when we read news we never ask ourselves what do we want? What we want is important. What we want is the point. Why? Because half of the “news” is trying to change what we want.

Don’t believe me?

Give me a single reason that expanding spending on a program by 3.6 percent instead of 3.8 percent is called a “Cut” in the local paper.

Give me a single reason that your network news has not covered the death of a soldier in Korea in 20 years. (Yes we have soldiers there. Yes some of them die sometimes. Yes sometimes even by the hands of infiltrating North Korean spies.)

Give me a single reason why major metropolitan newspapers endorse candidates.

Now before you click send, read your answers and tell me if you are trying to change what I want by defining what you believe. What do you think the media was doing?
